The AMD Athlon 64 x2 has a good deal going for it. One has been powering my home server for the last couple of years. It isn't the fastest thing on the market today, but, as a chip for a second machine or one for the kids to play around on the AMD Athlon64 x2 is worth a look. Price, performance, AMD Manufacture and 64bit architecture all come together to make the AMD Athlon64 x2 the workhourse of my household.
