Only one issue...

Have used ASUS ROG MB's in my last 3 builds. All have delivered in all aspects. This MB is another cracker and looks great, as long as your building a red themed system.

My only issue is i would have liked a further 2 or 4 USB3 ports on the rear and that both the SATA controllers can accommodate both optical and hard SATA devices. Two more SATA ports would have also been nice.

Very good board

It has numerous good features on the board including.
8x USB 2.0 ports, 4x fronf & 4x Back
6x USB 3.0 ports, 2x front & 4x Back
6x SATA 6GB ports
can support up to 32GB DDR3
mPCIe can be used as a tiny lightweight SSD.
Wifi & Bluetooth 4.0 on-board

Recommend that you don't rely on the on-board graphics nor the sound chip.

Thanks to this board and the SSD I have finally been able to get above the 5.6 rating and reached 7.6.

Superb Motherboard!...but OC issue?

I spent a lot of time researching and looking at many reviews of all the mobos out there for us general consumer. There were a lot of different chipsets to choose from, but I decided to go with the Z77 chipset for what I mainly do...which is gaming.

The Republic of Gaming (ROG) are a well respected and tested brand for gamers worldwide so I paid particular attention to the Asus mobos on their website. In the end, this one caught my eye because of the price, ability to take advantage of PCIe 3.0 and its looks!

It's a lovely and dangerous shade of red that suits my build perfectly! And the first time you take it out of its packaging, you will just stare at it for a while!

From a technical point of view, there is a separate PCIe Combo mSATA/WiFi module that you must attach to the mobo before securing it into the case, there are 4 DDR3 RAM slots supporting up to 32 GB RAM, thermo fusion technology for water cooling, Asus Q-Codes (a little two-digit panel that tells you that status of your mobo and if there are any problems) and USB 3 connectors. The Asus Suite II that comes with the package allows you to overclock with ease...I mean really easily. Just be weary that most of these components are not covered by their warranty if they are OC'd, so we all do it at our own risk.

The form factor is eATX and when you power it on, there are red LED strips and ROG logos that light up, however they will quickly become obscured by the case and its components (especially if you don't use the intel CPU fan).

All in all, very impressed and well worth the extra money to purchase...let's see how it stands the test of time.

UPDATE: well, after 72 hours of enjoying the new computer, I decided to test the Asus Suite II's capability to OC the i5 chip that I bought...followed all instructions and hit go. The computer rebooted to a BSOD! Most annoyed...no matter what I did, the BSOD would not go away. I eventually solved the problem by performing a mobo reset and reinstalling Win 8...thankfully (touch wood) it has been stable since. I guess, I won't try to OC again! Dropped one star for this upset.

very good

I have had a lot of motherboards, this is the best I have purchased as this one is expensive, but it has what I need 6 sata`s at 6gb + 2 for optical drives. Asus are a very good brand, and stay on top of the competition, so it about as good as it gets, in this price range, good delivery, no problems, would recommend. Thank you.
